I”ve just moved to a Ryzen 2700x myself and had a combo of System Thread Exception and boot looping between two separate Windows passthroughs. I ended up setting the 2700x to Ivy Bridge emulation…go figure. Opteron and Epyc were problematic choices. I was just reading some reddit threads for others encountering this problem on Ryzen and they were mentioning specific Windows version issues too.

I was using Windows Insider Builds and eventually the updates caused the system_thread_exception error and would not boot. I found that going back to the Fall Creators Update fixed everything. So far, I have no solution to fix the issue and worry now that the Spring Creators Update will cause the same issue. I have a Ryzen 1700 and use host-passthrough. Changing to core2duo severely limits my VM.

I suspect it saved me a ton of time. ;-)))

Cheers.

$ /etc/init.d/tvmobilisvcd start (or you could use restart)

There are a few config files for it scattered around, I think I initially had some issues with the file ownership/permissions of the config files. Can you run uname –all
